March 2, 2011: iSecure Solutions Founder and Principal, Kathleen Roberts, was a guest speaker at the fifth annual HPCA (Hunting Park Christian Academy) Career Day.  The sixth grade classes had an opportunity to hear from various professionals regarding careers and the life lessons learned along the way.  HPCA hosts this event each year at their facility in north Philadelphia.  Kathleen shared her journey from high school to graduate school, from the corporate world to entrepreneurship and from biology to data security.

November 4, 2010: iSecure Solutions Founder and Principal, Kathleen Roberts, was guest lecturer at the Pennsylvania State University’s College of Information Science and Technology (IST) SRA 311 class.  IST’s Security Risk & Analysis 311 Fall 2010 class was held in University Park, Pennsylvania.  The presentation, entitled “Risk Management,” examined the importance of IT risk assessments by first looking at the broader framework of a security program and then examining the key components of a risk assessment.  By introducing several industry standard risk assessment methodologies, examining key regulatory mandates and calculating the approximate cost of a security incident, students were able to map their knowledge with real world applications.

           SRA 311 Lecture

June 2 - 4, 2010: iSecure Solutions Founder and Principal, Kathleen Roberts,  presented at the 2010 Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) Commission on Technology Conference.

The 2010 CCCU Conference was held at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota.  The presentation, entitled “How to Meet Your Institution’s Emerging Information Security Needs,” first examined a security incident that occurred earlier this year at a higher ed institution in Texas.  Using this case study, the group explored the basic elements of a security program and then shared in more depth, the issues and roadblocks facing CCCU institutions who are working to provide a more secure campus environment.

June 2-5, 2009: iSecure Solutions Founder and Principal, Kathleen Roberts and Dick Morrison, ESQ, joined Henry DeVries, CFO and CIO of Calvin College and Rick Dent, CIO of Messiah College, in a series of three presentations at the 2009 Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) Conference on Technology and Finance.

The 2009 CCCU Conference was held at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marian, Indiana.  The presentations, entitled “Top 10 Reasons to work Together with your CIO / CFO,” “What’s Out There and Why We’d Better Comply” and “Establishing an Information Security Program,” were focused on compliance, critical information assets and the need for information security within higher ed institutions.

April 20-22, 2009: iSecure Solutions Founder and Principal, Kathleen Roberts, was a co-presenter and co-instructor at the 2009 EDUCAUSE Security Professionals Conference held in Atlanta, Georgia.

In the presentation, entitled “A Tour of the Security Task Force's IT Risk Management Framework”, Kathleen and her colleagues on the Security Task Force Risk Assessment Working Group explained how to adapt their new risk management framework to simplify the IT risk management process.

          Educause 2009 Presentation

In the post conference seminar, entitled “Practical Approaches to Effective Risk Management”, Kathleen and her colleagues worked within the EDUCAUSE IT Risk Management Framework and presented alternative risk assessment choices, focusing on practical approaches using specific examples to help institutions get started with risk assessment or expand and improve existing processes.

May 27 - 30, 2008: iSecure Solutions Founder and Principal, Kathleen Roberts, presented at the 2008 Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) Conference on Technology and Finance.  The 2008 CCCU Conference was held at Trinity Western University in Langley, British Columbia.  The presentation, entitled “Security Program Essentials that Go Beyond Borders,” first examined the basic elements of a security program and then explored in more depth, one of the key program elements – an IT risk assessment.

October 23-26, 2007: iSecure Solutions Founder and Principal, Kathleen Roberts, presented on topic of Risk Assessment at Educause Conference in Seattle.  Roberts, together with a colleague from Stanford University, discussed (Part I) the importance of and (Part II) specific steps taken when conducting an IT risk assessment.  The overall presentation also included a third discussion on how to respond to a security incident, once it occurs.

June 12-15, 2007: Kathleen Roberts joined Dr. Rick Dent, CIO at Messiah College and Mr. Dick Morrison, College Council at Messiah College, in a presentation at the 2007 Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) Conference on Technology and Finance.   The 2007 CCCU Conference was held at Messiah College in Grantham, PA.  The presentation, entitled “Serving the Servants by Securing Their Data,” focused on the rationale for and the methodology used to conduct an IT Risk and GLBA Compliance Assessment.
